Short answer: GetWardrobe has the most generous free tier we found, with unlimited AI outfit runs for a closet of up to 100 items. OutfitMaker.ai works in a browser and can show the result on a model, and DRESSED is the quickest to set up because you can type your closet as a list. To see a look on your own photo instead of a collage, use TryAnyOutfit.
Most AI outfit generators invent clothes you don't own. The ones below only combine pieces from your actual closet.
They differ in two ways. One is how your clothes get into the app, and the other is what the outfit looks like when it comes back. We'd choose on those two things before price.
We make TryAnyOutfit, so we're one of the picks below. If you want generators that design new looks from scratch, see our best AI outfit generators.

Three outfits folded from one wardrobe. That's the job these generators do.
| App | How your clothes get in | How outfits come back | Free tier | Paid (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GetWardrobe | Photos with background removal, store import | 10 outfit ideas per run, collage editor | Up to 100 items, unlimited generator runs | Premium from $4.99/month |
| OutfitMaker.ai | Photos in the browser, auto-tagged | Suggested outfits, or shown on one of 6 models | Unlimited items, 3 suggestions a day | Premium $7.99/month |
| DRESSED | Typed list or photos | One complete outfit each morning | One pick a day after a 7-day trial | Pro $8/month or $80/year |
| Alta Daily | Email receipts, its database, photos | Daily outfits, avatar try-on | No in-app purchases listed | None listed |
| Acloset | Photos or online search | Daily ideas, stylist chat | Up to 100 items | Basic $3.99/month |
| Fits | Photos or online search, auto-tagged | Swipe builder, AI stylist | Free app | Fits Pro from $9.99 |
| TryAnyOutfit | Pieces you add to your closet | Outfit ideas, then a try-on on your photo | No free trial | See pricing |

Getting clothes in is the slow part. How the outfit comes back decides how useful it is.
1. GetWardrobe: the best free generator
GetWardrobe's free closet holds up to 100 items with no time limit. Its AI Outfit Generator makes 10 outfits per run, and you can filter them by the weather or the occasion. On the free plan, runs are unlimited. You add clothes by photo, with the background removed, or import them from stores.
You can arrange looks in its collage editor and plan them on a calendar. Premium is listed from $4.99 a month or $34.99 a year, and AI credits start at 20 for $4.99. Your closet syncs to the web version too, and there's an Android app. Rated 4.3 from 790 ratings, so fewer reviews than most here.
2. OutfitMaker.ai: if you don't want to install an app
OutfitMaker.ai runs in any browser, and you can add it to your phone's home screen. Photograph your clothes and it removes the background, then tags each item for you. Suggestions take the weather and your calendar into account.
Its Look Preview puts a suggested outfit on one of 6 models with different skin tones and builds, in under 20 seconds by its own count. The free plan gives unlimited items, 3 suggestions a day and 1 Look Preview. Premium is $7.99 a month with a 7-day free trial, and one-time packs start at $1.99.
3. DRESSED: the fastest setup
Typing beats photographing. DRESSED lets you enter your closet as a plain list, one item per line, and says setup takes about ten minutes. You can photograph pieces instead if you like.
Its stylist, Vera, then builds one complete outfit each morning from the weather, your Google Calendar and what you wore this week. All features are free for 7 days with no card. After that, the free tier still picks one outfit a day, and Pro is $8 a month or $80 a year. It runs on the web, and there's an Android app on Google Play. We didn't find an iPhone app.

Photographing every piece is the slow way in. A typed list or forwarded receipts can get you started faster.
4. Alta Daily: if you shop online a lot
Forward your shopping receipts and Alta adds those clothes for you, which saves a lot of photos if most of your wardrobe came from online stores. You can also pick items from its database or snap a photo it matches to the original.
Alta then generates outfits for any day or event, can style a specific new piece, and shows outfits on an avatar that looks like you. No in-app purchases are listed on the US App Store. Besides the phone apps, there's a web version. See Alta Daily alternatives for more.
5. Acloset: if you want to chat about outfits
Ask Acloset's AI stylist what to wear today and it answers from your closet. It also suggests daily outfits around the weather and your schedule. You snap photos of your clothes, and it cleans messy shots up into store-style images.
Everything is free for up to 100 items. Basic is listed at $3.99 a month or $27.99 a year. Rated 4.46 from 5,501 ratings. Our Acloset alternatives page has close matches.
6. Fits: if you'd rather build outfits yourself
Fits is half generator, half builder. Its AI stylist suggests outfits from your wardrobe, but the core is the swipe maker, where you flip through your clothes and assemble looks yourself. It tags color and category automatically.
Fits Pro is listed from $9.99, and AI credits start at 5 for $1.99. Rated 4.59 from 5,742 ratings. Our TryAnyOutfit vs Fits page compares the two apps.
7. TryAnyOutfit: if you want to see it on you
Every generator above hands back a collage, a model or an avatar. We do the last step differently. Tell the AI stylist where you're going, and it builds outfit ideas from pieces in your closet. Then you can try the look on your own photo, or try any outfit image or screenshot the same way.
Credits are shared between the iPhone and Android apps and the web studio. Uploaded photos are auto-deleted after 72 hours unless you save them. There's no free trial, but it's cheap to start; see pricing. It previews a look. It won't measure fit or choose your size.

Ask for a look for date night or a job interview, built from your own pieces.
How to choose
If cost matters most, GetWardrobe's free tier goes furthest, and Alta Daily lists no purchases at all. If you'll never photograph a closet, DRESSED's typed list or Alta's receipt forwarding gets you there with the least work.
Then look at the output. A collage shows which pieces go together, while a model or avatar shows the shape of the outfit. Only a try-on on your photo shows it on you, which is the part we care about. Our best outfit apps guide sorts the wider field by need, and best AI wardrobe apps goes deeper on closets. Our outfit planner apps with a calendar list is the better fit when you mainly want to schedule looks ahead.
