Short answer: Alta Daily is the one we'd try first if you want an AI that builds outfits from your own closet around the weather and your calendar, and its App Store page lists no in-app purchases. Acloset adds a chat stylist and is free up to 100 items. Cladwell and Style DNA put more of their AI behind a subscription, and Indyx swaps the AI for human stylists.

Most "AI wardrobe" apps are closet catalogs with a shuffle button. So which ones actually reason about what you own? Fewer than the labels suggest.

We make TryAnyOutfit, a try-on app with its own AI stylist, so we're in this market too. We've covered closet apps broadly in best wardrobe apps and virtual closet apps. Here we only care about one feature: the AI that tells you what to wear from clothes you already have.

The closet is the input. The outfit suggestion is the product.

What the AI in each app works from

An outfit suggestion is only as good as what the app knows about your day. Here's what each listing says its AI uses, with prices from the US App Store on October 26, 2026.

App What the AI works from Shows it on you? Price (US App Store)
Alta Daily Weather, your schedule, events you describe Avatar that looks like you Free, no in-app purchases listed
Acloset Weather, your schedule, chat questions No Free up to 100 items; plans from $3.99/month
Style DNA A selfie-based profile of your coloring and shape No Subscriptions from $7.99/month
Cladwell Your style profile plus the looks you rate or restyle Yes, on a photo of you Closet free; outfits need a subscription
Fits Your wardrobe and outfit history Virtual try-on Free; Fits Pro and AI credit packs
Whering Your wardrobe and the weather (planner) No Free; Outfit Maker $4.99
TryAnyOutfit Where you're going, your saved wardrobe Yes, on a photo of you See pricing

What each app's AI uses to pick outfits: Alta Daily weather and schedule, Acloset chat, Style DNA a selfie profile, Cladwell your ratings, Fits outfit history, Whering a weather planner

Weather and calendar are the common inputs. A try-on view is the rare one.

1. Alta Daily: outfits planned around your day

Alta's App Store listing promises daily outfit suggestions "based on the weather and your schedule," plus outfits for any event you type in, from "date night in Paris" to a work conference. You can also ask it to build looks around one piece, like a jacket you never wear. Getting clothes in is less painful than usual. You can forward email receipts, pick items from Alta's database, or take a photo and let Alta try to find the original product image.

It's also one of the few here that shows the result worn: Alta generates the outfit on an avatar that looks like you. You'll find it on iPhone and Android, plus a web app at altadaily.com. On the US App Store it holds 4.89 stars from 17,450 ratings and was updated on October 21. The listing shows no in-app purchases, so we can't tell you what it will cost later. Just that, for now, nothing is for sale.

2. Acloset: a stylist you can ask questions

Acloset's AI is built around chat. You can ask "what should I wear today?" or "does this match?", and it also sends daily outfit suggestions tailored to the weather and your schedule. A recent update added a home screen widget with today's suggestion, so you don't even open the app. It also offers a personal color analysis and a "fit diagnosis" of the silhouettes that suit you.

All features are free for up to 100 items. Past that, the US App Store lists Basic at $3.99 a month, Premium at $9.99 and Expert at $24.99, plus "bean" packs. It's on iPhone and Android, rated 4.46 from 5,467 ratings. Our Acloset alternatives post covers what to switch to if the 100-item cap bites.

3. Style DNA: suggestions tuned to your coloring

Style DNA starts with a selfie rather than your closet. It works out your color season and body type first, then sends "5 ready-to-wear outfit ideas every day" from clothes you own, matched to that profile. You can also check in a store whether a piece suits your color type and figure.

The catch is the paywall. The US App Store lists monthly plans at $7.99, $9.99 and $19.99, and annual plans at $29.99 and $39.99. Rated 4.29 from 7,521 ratings. Pick it if you care more about colors that suit you than about weather.

4. Cladwell: outfits with a reason attached

Cladwell's Outfits tab fills with looks built from your pieces, each with a short stylist's note on why it works. You can rate a look, ask for a restyle or swap one piece. Its "See it on me" feature puts an outfit from your closet on a photo of you, and the Style tab builds a seasonal capsule of about 33 pieces, mostly ones you already own.

Building the closet is free. Almost everything else needs a subscription, and AI use comes with a monthly allowance. The US App Store lists monthly plans up to $9.99 and annual plans at $59.99 and $79.99. Rated 4.25 from 1,035 ratings, and updated on October 24.

A rainy-day pick: what a weather-aware app is supposed to land on.

5. Fits: a swipe maker with an AI stylist on top

Fits started as an outfit maker where you swipe through your clothes, and the AI stylist sits on top. The listing says the stylist learns from your wardrobe and outfit history, so suggestions should improve the more you log what you wear. It also has a virtual try-on and mood boards. Pricing is split: Fits Pro tiers from $9.99, and AI credit packs from 5 credits for $1.99 up to 500 for $79.99. Rated 4.59 from 5,689 ratings. We compare it with our app in TryAnyOutfit vs Fits.

6. Whering and Indyx: when you don't want AI picking

Whering isn't AI-first, and that's fine. Its "Dress Me" shuffles your closet into outfits, and the October 7 update made the planner suggest outfits based on your wardrobe and the weather. For more ideas there's an Outfit Maker, listed as a $4.99 purchase on the App Store. The app itself is free.

Indyx goes the other way on purpose. Its listing says "No random outfits styled by robots": you plan outfits yourself on drag-and-drop boards, or book a Lookbook of ten outfits styled by a person from your own closet. Membership is $12.99 a month or $74.99 a year on the US App Store. If you've tried AI suggestions and found them bland, a human might be the better spend. See Indyx vs Whering for the two side by side.

7. TryAnyOutfit: ask for an outfit, then see it on you

TryAnyOutfit is a try-on app first. Its AI stylist works the way you'd hope: tell it where you're going and it suggests outfits using clothes from your wardrobe. The difference is the next step. The try-on puts clothes on a photo of you, including a new piece from a product photo or store screenshot. Saved looks go into a digital wardrobe and a calendar.

You can use it on iPhone and Android or in the browser at tryanyoutfit.com/tryon. A preview shows the look. It doesn't measure fit or choose a size. For costs, see pricing.

How to pick

If the weather and your calendar are why you open a wardrobe app, start with Alta Daily or Acloset. For colors that flatter you, Style DNA is the specialist. Cladwell suits people who want a reason with every outfit and don't mind paying. And if you'd rather see a suggestion on your own body before you get dressed, use Alta's avatar, Cladwell's See it on me, or TryAnyOutfit.

Whatever you choose, the AI can only style what you've added. Budget an evening for photos. Our outfit planner apps and AI stylist apps guides cover the planning and chat sides in more depth, and our style quiz helps you name your style before you start.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI wardrobe app?

For outfits planned around the weather and your calendar, Alta Daily; its US App Store page lists no in-app purchases as of October 26, 2026. Acloset is the pick if you want to chat with an AI stylist, and Style DNA if you care most about colors that suit you.

Is there a free AI wardrobe app?

Alta Daily is free with no in-app purchases listed on the US App Store. Acloset is free for up to 100 items. Whering is free, though it relies on a shuffle and a weather planner more than an AI stylist.

Can an AI wardrobe app show the outfit on me?

Some can. Alta Daily generates the outfit on an avatar that looks like you, Cladwell's See it on me uses a photo of you, and TryAnyOutfit puts clothes on your own photo. A preview shows the look, not the fit.

Do I have to photograph every item?

The AI can only style what you add. Alta lets you forward email receipts or pick items from its database, and Whering imports from stores, which cuts down the photo work.
