Short answer: Doji is still live, but only on iPhone, and it dresses an AI likeness built from your photos. On Android, FitRoom and TryAnyOutfit cover try-on, and Alta Daily adds a closet. Google's Try-On button is the pick if you try clothes while browsing. ButtonUp is the closest iPhone match.

Doji's pitch is simple: make a photorealistic version of yourself, then try on real fashion products before you buy. Lots of people like it. It's rated 4.14 from 170 ratings on the US App Store, and it gets updates every few weeks.

People usually leave because of the phone. Doji has no Android app and needs iOS 18 or later. Others want their own photo in the picture, and we think that's the better default for checking a purchase.

We make TryAnyOutfit, so we're on this list too. Keep that in mind as you read.

Doji is built around designer pieces. Most of its alternatives started from try-on or from a closet.

What Doji does, and where it stops

You upload a few photos and Doji builds your "AI likeness." From there you can try on products it picks for your taste, or paste in pieces from anywhere on the internet. There's a social side for remixing other people's looks. Your closet and wishlist sit next to each other, and you can buy straight from the app.

The App Store listing also mentions a Doji extension for trying on products while you browse fashion sites. Doji's own site links only to the iPhone app, and a Chrome Web Store search didn't turn up a Doji extension.

It's free on the App Store, with no in-app purchases listed. The latest version, 1.1.5, came out on October 23, 2026.

The likeness is the part reviewers argue about. One review from September 2025 says the avatar "doesn't even look like me in real life." Another, from June 2025, says miniskirts often turned into long skirts. Those are two voices out of 170 ratings, but they point at the same thing: what you see is a generated version of you.

Leaving Doji? Browsing: Google Try-On. Pieces from anywhere: ButtonUp, FitRoom, TryAnyOutfit. Avatar: Alta Daily. Shop in app: ButtonUp, shoppin. Android: FitRoom, Alta, TryAnyOutfit

Each Doji feature and the app that covers it best. No single app does all of it.

1. Google Try-On: if you used Doji while browsing

This is the nearest thing to Doji's browse-and-try habit. Search for a top, trousers or a dress on Google, tap "Try it on," and add a full-body photo or a selfie. It works in Chrome too. In the US, a selfie can also become a digital version of you, so you get an avatar option here as well.

Two limits. Not every product has the button, and sponsored listings never do. You also have to be 18 or older. We compare it with our app in TryAnyOutfit vs Google Try-On.

2. ButtonUp: if you shop from screenshots

ButtonUp starts from a screenshot of something you saw on a site or a social post, then shows you wearing it. Like Doji, it lets you shop brands inside the app and try pieces on as you browse. It does hairstyles too.

The free version is for browsing and your Gallery. Try-ons from your camera roll need ButtonUp Pro, from $7.99 on the US App Store. It's iPhone-only and rated 4.77 from 779 ratings. See TryAnyOutfit vs ButtonUp for a side-by-side.

The moment these apps are for: the piece is in your cart and you still aren't sure.

3. Alta Daily: if you liked the likeness and the closet

Alta is the closest in spirit. It can show an outfit "on an avatar that looks like you," and it builds outfits from your own closet around the weather, your plans or one piece you want to wear. Forward an email receipt and the item lands in your closet. It also points out gaps in your wardrobe and suggests things to buy.

It's on Android and the web as well as iPhone, with no in-app purchases listed on the US App Store. Rated 4.89 from 17,857 ratings. If Alta isn't it either, our Alta Daily alternatives list goes further.

4. FitRoom: if you're on Android

FitRoom skips the likeness. You upload a photo of a garment and a photo of yourself, and it puts one on the other. There's a smart closet, plus a seller side for product images that shoppers can ignore.

Android and iPhone apps exist, and there's a web version at fitroom.app. The US App Store lists a $4.99 weekly plan and yearly plans from $29.99, with 4.59 stars from 257 ratings. More in TryAnyOutfit vs FitRoom.

5. shoppin: if you'd rather have the piece made

Sometimes the designer piece isn't stocked in your size. shoppin takes a saved pin, a screenshot or a link, plus your measurements, and its tailors in India make the piece and ship it. There's a vibe search, an explore feed and virtual try-on before you order.

No in-app purchases are listed because you pay for the clothes. It's rated 4.74 from 13,643 ratings on the US App Store. Compare it with us in TryAnyOutfit vs shoppin.

6. TryAnyOutfit: if you want your real photo

That's us. We don't build a likeness. You add a clear photo of yourself and any outfit image, like a product shot or a store screenshot, and see the look on the photo you took. Discover has looks you can try on, and your wardrobe keeps the ones you save.

Credits are shared between the phone apps and the web studio. There's no free trial, but it's cheap to start; see pricing. Uploaded photos are auto-deleted after 72 hours unless you save them. A preview shows how the look reads on you. It won't measure fit or pick your size, so check the size chart before you order.

Which one to try first

Start with your phone. If Doji works for you on a recent iPhone, keep it. On Android, pick FitRoom or TryAnyOutfit for try-on, or Alta Daily if the closet mattered more.

Then go by habit. If you shop on Google a lot, the Try-On button costs nothing to test. If you screenshot pieces from Instagram, ButtonUp or TryAnyOutfit. And if it's sold out in your size, shoppin is the odd one out that makes it for you.
