Personal stylist apps are either human-led (a Fix box or a Lookbook) or AI on a digital closet. We compare both, then show where photo try-on fits.

In this article

"Personal stylist app" usually means one of two products. A human sends you new clothes in a box. Or an app styles outfits from a digital closet — with AI, or with a booked lookbook. Same search phrase. Different bill.

We make TryAnyOutfit, so our last section is the photo try-on option. We'd rather tell you who actually styles the clothes than pretend every "stylist" app does the same job. And none of these tools knows your size the way a fitting room does.

A Fix-style box on the left. An AI stylist chat on the right. Pick which job you actually have.

Four personal stylist paths: shipped box, human lookbook, AI closet chat, photo try-on

Shipped clothes versus a human lookbook. AI closet chat versus try-on on your photo.

Stitch Fix: human stylist, new clothes in a box

Stitch Fix matches you with a real stylist after a style quiz (size, style, budget). They send a Fix box. Keep what you like, return the rest. Shipping and returns are free on their site. There is no subscription required — order on demand or set a schedule.

Their FAQ lists a $20 styling fee per Fix, credited toward what you keep. Women's and men's items start around $28 on the site; kids' from about $10. The app also lists Freestyle shopping and Themed Fixes, plus Stylist Connect chat. There's an AI-powered style visualization tool for seeing looks on you.

About 4.7 stars from roughly 140,000 ratings on the US App Store. Best when you want someone else to shop for you and you're fine trying new pieces at home.

Indyx Lookbooks: human stylist on clothes you already own

Indyx is mainly a digital wardrobe: photograph or import pieces, plan outfits on boards, track cost-per-wear, share closets. The human piece is Lookbooks. The listing says you can book a Lookbook for ten expertly styled outfits from your own closet, with a few new pieces mixed in if you choose. There's also a Lookbook Mini for smaller asks.

US IAP shows Monthly Membership at $12.99 and Annual at $74.99 (Insider). Lookbook package prices sit in the booking flow, not as a fixed line on the listing we checked. About 4.8 stars from roughly 1,600 ratings. iPhone and iPad.

Use this when you like your closet but want a person to restyle it, without a full clothing subscription box.

AI personal stylist apps (closet-first)

AI stylist apps catalog your clothes, then suggest daily looks or answer chat questions from that wardrobe. Our AI stylist roundup covers Alta Daily and Fits in detail. Acloset, Style DNA and Pureple are there too. Closet organizers without a strong stylist angle are in best wardrobe apps.

What they don't do: ship you a curated box, or sit on a video call and pin a hem. What they do well: turn "I have nothing to wear" into combinations from pieces already on hangers.

Catalog the closet first. The stylist prompt only works if the pieces are in the app.
