# What to Wear Apps That Answer With Your Own Clothes

Alta Daily and Acloset answer "what should I wear today?" from your own closet plus the weather and your plans. Weather Fit dresses a character for the forecast. Fits and Whering help you build outfits yourself. None shows the look on your own body, which is where a try-on app like TryAnyOutfit comes in.

A what to wear app answers "what should I wear today?" using the weather, your plans or the clothes you've already logged. In our view Alta Daily and Acloset are the best picks, because they use all of it. Weather Fit is the pick if you only want the forecast turned into an outfit. Fits and Whering are better at helping you build the outfit yourself.

None of these apps can show you the result on your own body. That's the gap TryAnyOutfit fills, and it's why we list it last, as a second step rather than a closet app.

*The question is the same every morning. The apps differ in what they need from you before they answer.*

## TL;DR

- For answers from your own closet plus the forecast and your plans, use Alta Daily or Acloset. Alta lists no in-app purchases, and Acloset is free up to 100 items.
- For weather only, Weather Fit dresses a character for the forecast and sends a morning notification.
- If you'd rather build outfits yourself, Fits has a swipe outfit maker and Whering has the "Dress Me" shuffle.
- Seeing a look on your own body before you wear or buy it takes a try-on app, not a closet app.

## What each app asks before it answers

| Fits | Closet and outfit history | Yes | 4.6 (5,762 ratings) |

*Every answer is only as good as what you feed the app. Most of them need your closet first.*

## Alta Daily: tell it the day, get outfits from your closet

Alta's listing describes daily outfit suggestions "based on the weather and your schedule." You can also type an event, with the listing's own examples being "date night in Paris" and "work conference in Vegas." If you want to wear one particular jacket, ask for outfits built around it.

It only knows clothes you've added. Alta lets you forward email receipts, pick items from its database, or photograph a piece and have Alta look for the original product photo. Its try-on generates the outfit "on an avatar that looks like you," per the listing. Alta also has a web app at altadaily.com, and it's on Android. The US App Store listing showed no in-app purchases when we checked. Our [free AI stylist guide](/blog/free-ai-stylist) goes into what that means.

## Acloset: ask the question in chat

Acloset's listing uses the exact words: ask the AI stylist anything "from 'what should I wear today?' to 'does this match?'" It also lists daily outfit suggestions tailored to the weather and your schedule, plus an outfit calendar.

The listing says every feature is free for up to 100 items. Past that you need a subscription, which on the US App Store starts at $3.99 a month for Basic. It's on iPhone and Android. If the item cap is a problem, see our [Acloset alternatives](/blog/acloset-alternatives).

## Weather Fit: the forecast, already dressed

Weather Fit is a weather app first. Per its listing, a character that you style puts on clothes that suit the conditions, and it changes as the day goes on. A comfort slider tells the app whether you run hot or cold. A morning notification shows the day's outfit, and an evening one helps you plan tomorrow.

You don't photograph your closet. You choose the character's clothes from the app's own options, "only what you'd actually wear." Premium adds unlimited wardrobe items, plus the notifications and the Apple Watch app. On the US App Store it's $3.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $99.99 lifetime, and the listing mentions a free trial for new subscribers. Its listing describes it as made for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

*A weather app can tell you it's a raincoat day. Picking which raincoat outfit is still on you, or on a closet app.*

## Fits and Whering: build the outfit yourself

Fits leans toward people who like assembling outfits. Its listing describes swiping through your clothes to put looks together, a calendar to plan ahead or look back, and an AI stylist with suggestions "based on your current wardrobe" that learns from your outfit history.

Fits' website says the app is free to use, "including unlimited items and background removal," and lists unlimited AI outfit suggestions as a Fits Pro benefit. On the US App Store, Fits Pro shows at $9.99, $29.99 and $59.99 without naming the periods, and AI credit packs start at 5 for $1.99. Fits is on iPhone and Android. For a try-on comparison, see [TryAnyOutfit vs Fits](/compare/tryanyoutfit-vs-fits).

Whering's answer is closer to a slot machine than a stylist. Its "Dress Me" feature, which the listing calls "Clueless-inspired," shuffles your closet into combinations. There's an outfit planner for events and packing lists for trips. The listing says the Outfit Maker comes with a Style Pass, and an Outfit Maker purchase shows at $4.99 on the US App Store.

Whering calls itself a free closet app, and you can add items from its database of over 100 million pieces instead of photographing everything. It's on iPhone and Android. Our [apps like Whering](/blog/apps-like-whering) list compares it with closer rivals.

An iPhone app named What to Wear came first when we checked Google results for this search (US, November 4, 2026). Its US App Store listing had no ratings shown when we checked, so we didn't have enough to judge it. Plenty of small weather-and-outfit apps use the same name.

## Where TryAnyOutfit fits

TryAnyOutfit has an AI stylist too. Tell it where you're going and it suggests outfits from clothes you've saved. But we didn't build it to compete with Alta on closet management. We built it for the moment after: you have a suggestion, a screenshot or a product photo, and you want to see it on yourself.

TryAnyOutfit puts that look on your real photo, not an avatar. It's for checking how something looks. It won't measure your fit or pick a size. Each try-on uses a credit and there's no free trial, but it's cheap to start. See the [pricing page](https://tryanyoutfit.com/#pricing) for current options.

It runs on iPhone and Android, and there's a [web studio](/tryon). Credits are shared across them. Uploaded photos are auto-deleted after 72 hours unless you save them.
