# Best Fashion Apps in 2026 for Styling, Planning and Try-On

Pick one fashion app per job: Indyx is the best free digital closet, Alta Daily the best free daily stylist and Acloset the one for planning outfits and trips. Pinterest is still the place for inspiration, Google Lens finds clothes from a photo, and TryAnyOutfit shows a look on your own photo.

Short answer: no single fashion app does everything, so pick one per job. Indyx is the best free digital closet, Alta Daily the best free daily stylist, and Acloset the one to use for planning outfits and trips. Pinterest is still the place for inspiration. TryAnyOutfit shows a look on your own photo before you buy or change.

Several apps try to do all of it. We've sorted them by the job each one does best. Store apps are left out on purpose. Every retailer has one, and they exist to sell you their stock, not to style you. That's a different job.

We make TryAnyOutfit, one of the apps below. It only appears in the section where it fits.

*Most people need two or three of these apps, not seven.*

*One app per job. Start with the closet and add the others only if you need them.*

## Digital closet: Indyx

A closet app is the base for most of the others. Once your clothes are in, the app can build outfits from them, track what you wear and show what you never reach for.

Indyx lets you add unlimited items and save unlimited outfits for free. You can log what you wear to a calendar, and it works out cost-per-wear for each piece automatically. Collections double as capsules or packing lists. Your closet is private by default, though you can share it with friends. The paid Insider membership is $12.99 a month or $74.99 a year on the App Store. It's rated 4.8 on iPhone and 4.4 on Google Play.

If you're on an iPhone and hate subscriptions, Stylebook is the old favorite: a one-time $4.99 with no monthly fee. It has no Android version. For the head-to-head, read [Indyx vs Stylebook](/blog/indyx-vs-stylebook); the wider field is in our [wardrobe apps](/blog/best-wardrobe-apps) roundup.

## Daily outfits: Alta Daily

Alta suggests an outfit each day from your own clothes, based on the weather and your plans. You can ask it to build looks around one piece or an event. Adding clothes is faster than most, since it can pull items from email receipts or its own database. It can also show the outfit on an avatar of you. The site says Alta is free to use, and the App Store lists no in-app purchases. On iPhone it has 4.9 stars from about 17,000 ratings. For more apps in this category, see our [AI stylist apps](/blog/best-ai-stylist-apps).

## Planning and trips: Acloset

Acloset has an outfit calendar, a daily pick matched to the weather, and a packing feature that handles outfits and items for a trip in one place. It also tracks cost-per-wear and has a chat stylist. You can browse your closet in a desktop browser too. Everything is free up to 100 items. Plans start at $3.99 a month (Basic) and go up to $24.99 a month (Expert). It's rated 4.5 on iPhone and on Google Play, with more than 5M downloads.

Fits is a good second choice if you like to build outfits by hand on a canvas: it's free with unlimited items. Both are in our [outfit planner apps](/blog/best-outfit-planner-apps) list.

*A week planned ahead means fewer decisions at 7am.*

## Inspiration: Pinterest

When you want new ideas rather than combinations of old clothes, Pinterest is still the quickest way to build a mood board. Search "fall work outfits", save what you like and you have a board in minutes. It's free and rated 4.8 from about 5.8M ratings on iPhone. It knows nothing about your closet, though. Combyne is the alternative if you'd prefer a feed of outfits made by other users. More options are in [outfit ideas apps](/blog/outfit-ideas-apps).

## Colors: Style DNA

Style DNA works from a selfie to suggest a color palette and a style guide. It also has an AI stylist and a closet. The App Store lists subscriptions from $7.99 a month, plus a palette and body type guide listed at $12.99. Ratings are mixed: 4.3 on iPhone and 3.5 on Google Play. If you only want your colors, take a couple of free quizzes first: our [Style quiz](/quiz) and [Wardrobe quiz](/quiz2) cost nothing.

## Find clothes from a photo: Google Lens

If you've seen a jacket on someone's feed, point Google Lens at the screenshot. It searches for matching and similar items to buy. Free, and built into the Google app on iPhone. On Google Play it has more than 1B downloads. Our guide on [how to find clothes from a picture](/blog/how-to-find-clothes-from-a-picture) has the steps.

## Try-on: TryAnyOutfit

This is our app. Upload any outfit image or store screenshot and you get a preview of it on your own photo. Saved looks go into a digital wardrobe with a calendar, and the AI stylist suggests outfits from that wardrobe for where you're going.

![TryAnyOutfit studio on iPhone combining a person photo and an outfit image into a try-on preview](https://storage.googleapis.com/tryanyoutfit.firebasestorage.app/blog-images/tryanyoutfit-studio-try-on-preview-20b83b9a.webp)

*Your photo plus an outfit screenshot gives a preview of the look.*

It runs on iPhone and Android, plus a [web studio](/tryon). There's no free render. Each try-on uses one credit, sold in one-time packs or a subscription; see [current plans](/#pricing).

A preview shows the look. It doesn't measure fit or choose a size, so check the retailer's size chart before you buy.

Google's own Try it on button is the free option. It appears on some eligible clothes in Google results, and you must be 18 or older. Our [virtual try-on apps](/blog/best-virtual-try-on-apps) post compares the rest.

## Which fashion apps should you use?

Most people need two. Start with a closet: Indyx if you want it free, Stylebook if you're on iPhone and want to pay once. Then add the one that matches your problem. Alta Daily helps if mornings are the issue, Acloset if you plan ahead or travel, Pinterest if you're short on ideas. Use TryAnyOutfit when you want to see a look on you before spending money. Use Google Lens when you need to find where an item is sold.
